The original image was a sepia (brown tones) snapshot, about 4" x 6". It was a Russian photo from the 20's, and the only picture anybody had of the little baby in the picture, who was the grandmother of our client. She hesitantly brought us this photo, and said "I doubt that there is much hope for this picture, but if you could resurrect it, I'd be ecstatic!" ... The small photo was in terrible physical condition, and seriously deteriorated besides. Because of the very poor condition of the original, we were not able to get exceptional results from the final image. We felt that 8" x 10" was about as large as we could go with this one and still look good. But with a nice double-matting and custom 2 1/2" ornately carved wooden frame, the portrait looked wonderful, and ended up with an overall frame dimension of 19" x 22", a very nice size for a family heirloom portrait! Because of the significant amount of repair needed, this project cost about $55 plus the cost of printing and framing.
