Transforming a tiny snapshot into a museum quality Portrait

The original Image was a tiny 3" x 4" sepia (brown tones) snapshot from Europe in the 1930's. It was the only photo our customer had of her husband and herself when they were young, and she really wanted a large format portrait to hand down to her daughter. The small photo was in pretty decent shape, but required some significant digital cleaning and some re-creating in areas that were missing. We imported the snapshot into our system at a very high reslution, because we knew we'd need all the detail we could find to make a large portrait from a tiny photo. We de-colorized the image to remove the browns, made all of our artistic adjustments, and applied a light creamy hue layer to make it a bit richer, to give it some depth. The project was a smashing sucess, and the delighted lady left our shop with a beautiful framed 16" x 20" portrait of herself and her late husband that she will be giving to her daughter as a birthday gift!
