The original in this case was a tiny 1" x 1" small wallet sized photo that was scratched, cracked, dirty and faded. We scanned the wallet photo at super high resolution, to gather as much detail as possible. We healed the surface (a major undertaking!), worked our magic on tones, hues, etc., and came up with a beautiful high resolution portrait of this young lady. We were able to get very nice resolution out of this image, so we printed a sharp 8" x 10" portrait, which is very unusual from an original the size of a postage stamp! Keep in mind that the image you see here on the web is a low resolution representation of the real portrait. The file size of a high resolution image is much too large for practical web use, so the actual image is much more detailed than the one you see here.
